New Delhi: Three MPs belonging to the Indian Union Muslim League party have written to President Ram Nath Kovind urging him to remove Lakshadweep administrator Praful Khoda Patel and also to send a delegation of MPs including members from Kerala to the federally administered territory.
In their letter, Mohammed Basheer, Abdussamad Samadani, P.V Abdul Wahab have raised their strong concern over arbitrary actions taken by Patel.
He is implementing ”undemocratic reforms” in Lakshadweep, they said.
According to the new rule, persons having more than two children are disqualified from contesting the election. Beef has also been banned in the region where 100% population is non vegetarian .Moreover liquor is now allowed.
The IUML MPs accused Patel of mismanaging Covid-19 situation in Lakshadweep. They said that he relaxed quarantine norms that led to a lethal spike in Covid cases.
