New Delhi: Zameerul Hasan, the former chief of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) in West Bengal has launched a scathing attack on the party and claimed that MIM works for BJP.
Hasan was unhappy with the kind of politics being furthered by AIMIM supremo.
He believes that ‘AIMIM works for the BJP.’ He told Muslim Mirror that the party wanted to benefit the BJP in West Bengal elections by allying with Furfura Sharif chief Abbas Siddiqui.
He was upset when AIMIM chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi met Siddiqui during his state visit and did not meet or talk to any of the leaders who have worked tirelessly for the party in the state.
“He [Owaisi] went to a man who has a bad name in West Bengal. He [Abbas Siddiqui] abuses many Muslims. He says that Ahle Hadees, Tablighi Jamaat and Jamaat-e-Islami are not on the right path. Only 2 per cent of illiterate Muslims who follow Furfura clerics are on the right path and it is only them who will go to Jannat,” Hasan said.
Owaisi wanted to seal a pact with Siddiqui and split votes of Muslim in state, he added.
After losing a chance to close the deal with Siddiqui, the AIMIM is purportedly not likely to contest West Bengal elections. Mr Hasan told Muslim Mirror that he has been informed by some media persons that the party won’t field their candidates in the state.
Hasan joined the AIMIM in 2015. He worked for the party in 22 districts. However, he believes the party did not give him and other AIMIM workers due importance.
The AIMIM leadership has disassociated with Hasan and ruled out his allegations.
In response, Hasan said he was orally told by Owaisi that he is the in-charge of the party in the state. He asked for an official letter stating the same several times but that was not given to him.
The AIMIM has been preparing to contest elections in West Bengal. But ironically it has not formed its state-level team so far.
This indicates that the central leadership of the party has not worked at the grass-root level. They have decided to fight elections without connecting with people at the ground level.
“They always come just before elections. They go to any region when they are paid by the BJP. They keep relaxing until they make a deal with the BJP,” Hasan added.
