Hindutva extremist abuses ‘Jesus’, attacks cabin attendant forcing Air France flight to make emergency landing

A Hindutva extremist and die-hard fan of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday created a ruckus on an Air France flight en route New Delhi from Paris. Due to his rude behaviour, the aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing in Bulgaria.

A video of the alleged incident shared by Congress leader Gaurav Pandhi shows the man dressed in white mouthing serious profanities at another passenger. He raised slogans like ”Jai Hind” ”Hindu jaag gaya hai” (the Hindu has awakened), ”Modi Modi” and ”Udta Punjab”, while also making some lewd, threatening comments about Jesus Christ.https://platform.twitter.com/embed/Tweet.html?dnt=true&embedId=twitter-widget-0&frame=false&hideCard=false&hideThread=false&id=1368624106694873089&lang=en&origin=http%3A%2F%2Fmuslimmirror.com%2Feng%2Fhindutva-extremist-abuses-jesus-attacks-cabin-attendant-forcing-air-france-flight-to-make-emergency-landing%2F&theme=light&widgetsVersion=e1ffbdb%3A1614796141937&width=550px

The man, whose name was not revealed, was taken off the aircraft and has been charged with endangering flight safety. If convicted, he faces up to 10 years in prison.

He was later detained for 72 hours, Sofia City Prosecutor Iliana Kirilova said, according to PTI. “After the troublemaker’s detention, the flight proceeded to its destination,” Krilova said.

Ivailo Angelov, an official at Bulgaria’s National Investigation Agency, told Reuters that the man began to act up soon after take-off, quarrelling with other passengers, assaulting a flight attendant and pummeling the cockpit’s door.

Angelov said there was no reasonable explanation for the man’s behaviour. “We are investigating both his actions and his motives,” the investigation agency official added.

The man has been provided with a court-appointed defence lawyer and an interpreter. The Embassy of India in Bulgaria has also been informed about his unruly behaviour.
